While I met some cool people and made some friends, I really regret the time I spent on this game.
Looking back... quite frankly, most of my gaming experiences are both gone and forgotten. All I really remember from them is some strange enjoyment that wouldn't go away. And even when Diablo 2 got boring with just grind (that's all I did in that game, mind you: on hardcore, I didn't really have the gear or balls to PvP), I still kept playing because.. it was addictive.
I bet if you sat down and thought about it, some of those memories would come roaring back. Games are like movies and books... sometimes all it takes is a little conversation to ignite the memories of those fun moments.
Sounds like D2 was a guilty pleasure... nothing wrong with that! It could be worse... you could be one of those people that plays 700 hours of solitaire :)
I may not remember specific gaming experiences in all the games I've played but I always tend to have an over-all "feeling" when looking back at each game. The memories that seem to stick in my mind the most are those that involve playing with friends. Maybe because it's shared experience.
D2 was without a doubt a guilty pleasure. And when it wasn't a pleasure, it was a guilty chore, as I've already mentioned.
Granted, it wasn't that long ago that I last played D2, and I remember a great deal of the game itself (because D2 was one of those kinds of RPGs that you had to study to get good at)... but, as you (ChangeAgent) have pointed out, the specifics need their specific reminders for me to remember them.... Not sure if I would like to remember them or not, lol. 700 hours of solitaire is pretty bad, but that's only what, ~29 days straight? heh, I'm pretty sure I spent a year's worth of my life playing D2.
And... as to what games I'm playing now... not many, really. School and family have taken the front seat this year, so I've stuck to single player Total Annihilation (Kingdoms) and a little bit of classic Pokemon Silver on my iPod (thanks to Rockbox.. eh, yes, I do own an actual cartridge). The last real game I played was Lineage 2, and it was a bit of fun while it lasted.
And I'm still getting those feelings. Whenever I'm outside for a decent length of time running errands, and sunset draws nearer and nearer, there's nothing more I want to do than be at home relaxing in my computer chair and let the sun set on my back as I wander through Lut Gholein for the first time, without a care in the world.

I'm too young to be nostalgic, damn it. lol.
